Allocation to intervention
Randomised controlled trial
Query!
Procedure for enrolling a subject and allocating the treatment (allocation concealment procedures)
Participants will be recruited from local communities, Pacific health service providers, churches and schools. Recruitment will be facilitated through the media and other networks. Immediately following baseline data collection, randomisation allocation will be determined and participants will be randomly assigned to either:
Group 1: Fanau FAB intervention programme; or
Group 2: Kids in Action (KIA) programme.
Query!
Methods used to generate the sequence in which subjects will be randomised (sequence generation)
A stratified blocked randomisation with variable block sizes (i.e. multiple if two arms) will be used to maintain balance across important prognostic factors. Two stratification factors will be considered: gender (female and male) and preferred ethnicity (Samoan, Tongan, Cook Island Maori, and Other Pacific). Allocation concealment by computer up to the point of randomisation will be maintained.
